Charmed never jumped the shark. Its writing, directing and actor remained consistant and high-quality throughout its eight years. At times, the story lines may have underperformed, but after creating 178, one or two slip-up episodes are to be expected. It has, in its history, broken ratings records and, by its final season, became the longest running series with all female leads - a brilliant achievement for a long-lasting show with a devote cult following.
I really loved the show!!! I don't think it JTS. There was only one storyline i didn't like and that was when the sisters got false identities, that was a bit silly. Still overall the show was FAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show jumped when that billie girl came on board OMG! One of my favorite shows became a bore I couldn't watch anymore until this day I don't think I even remember if I ever saw the last episode. Kaley cocoo( however you spell it) she ruined it for me. I don't know whose brilliant idea it was to bring her on but thanks for making the last season crappy.
"Charmed" sort of jumped when Cole got vanquished for the last time. The end of season four built up this great (albeit sad) momentum, it continued when he came back, but then wham, he died for the last time after Phoebe went totally out-of-character. Shark sighting number one.
But in my opinion, the show truly jumped when it became more about the demons and minor characters than Piper, Paige, and Phoebe. The sisters' bond with Prue was so strong because they were sisters first, and then witches, not the other way around. Somewhere around the time Chris got introduced, the show JTS. Too many guest stars, not enough sister time.

first i would say it was when loe and piper broke up as a wife and husband but now i reall believe it was the whole fake death and identitys...that really ruined the whole thing...
I think that the show took a decided downturn after Pru died. Unexpected to the producers etc, sure but that is what you get when you get the tempermental, gifted, kick arse SD.
The replacement of Pru by McGowan was totally misguided. I know they needed the power of three, could they have just replaced SD? Difficult, to say i know, but i would have preferred that to McGowan.
Bringing on a 'fourth sister' ruined the dynamic of the original girls and their family past.
Pru was the one who was headstrong, Piper, the nurturer, Phoebe, still young, was trying to find her way. I didn't like the almost immediate transformation. After all that time to be an independant club owner, we hardly saw p3 at all. And Magic school? Clearly an opportunity to ride on the coatails of the success of Harry Potter.
And why bring in that older man/cole for phoebe? i never saw that chemistry at all, and McGowan to me never had an easy gel with the former two Halliwells.
If the show 'jumped the shark' it did it when they made the demon's more prevailant than the 'innocents' and the cops and boyfriends all look like buffoons.
Not to mention the fact that they made the demons more interesting than the 'innocents' they were bound to protect.
THAT and just about every actor from GH happened to appear on that show at one time or another... the lots of filming must have been right next door!

I randomly watched episodes from season 1 to 3 and then I saw Paige come in and I was mildly interested with why the other woman left. I liked all the fun that seasons 5 and 6 brought when Paige was there but I was surprised they weren't dead yet because the new lineup was a mess and with all the babies and Phoebe being in and out of love than being a witch. I remember when Prue was around the series was more dramatic and serious. I did enjoy charmed afterwards though it was interesting how poorly they replaced prue and how more vulnerable they became after prue wasn't around to lead them. Phoebe became so slutty and out of control after Prue died.
Two words: Kaley Cuoco
When It comes to Kaley"Shoulders"Cuoco wooden does not begin to describe her acting.
Random irritation: Coop
Victor Webster made the transition from shark magnet Mutant X need I continue?
This show went on too long Season 7 was it the ending was perfect but nah wallets & purses must be kept full at all times.
Sad really!!

Sure there were episodes here and there that were ridiculously contrived and downright silly, but I thought the show JTS when Billie was brought on. Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine! And always in trouble! However, the last show was great ... almost great enough to redeem the entire last season.
I like the show but the one thing that often bothers me is the constant perkiness of the 3 main characters all the time. No matter what danger they face no matter how awful the situation its all one big joke to them. I know maybe they are told to play it like that but it doesnt take much talent. I like seeing real emotions once in a while. The episodes that have them are the best or at least a genuinely amusing situation. They are just too perky and happy for the situations they are in most of the time.
