i dream of jeannie never jumped
i do think some were not very good
but in every season they had some that pretty good

I am happy that Jeannie and Tony got married. It would have been great to also see Major Healey tie the knot; he was so good with women! Their children would have been delightful. The ending was terrible...or, actually there was no real ending. Why not? We, and they, deserved better!

Everytime i watch this show i'm like, "HEy, look, it's JR Ewing" lol

This show JTS's before the wedding. It started when Major Nelson (aka Master) decided he liked having Genie around, which was around season 4.

Remember that the whole theme of the show from the very beginning was that Major Nelson didn't want Genie around. He wanted a normal life, not one where he could wish anything he wanted. That was the brilliance of the show.

Because if he was a normal male, he would have wished for a billion dollars and the two of them would be screwing until his balls dropped off.

I don't think it ever jumped. During the fourth season they began to run out of ideas, and at the end of season 5 they wisely ended it. Contrast this with Bewitched, which continued on for 3 more painful seasons.

I didn't mind the wedding. I feel like they took the "Jeannie chases after Tony and gets jealous" angle as far as they could. It was getting old. And having Mr. and Mrs. Bellows know about Jeannie's existence opened up some new storylines. But really the show had run its course and it's best that they ended it.

Jumped for me when I realized what a great bit of truth this show really was.

I mean, if there really existed a genie, who just happened to be a smoking hot blonde, in a skimpy outfit that she was dying to get out of, and would call you 'master' while attempting to drag you off to her bed, not to mention miracling into existence anything from beer to riches...

Of course it'd be some gay man that found the bottle and not me. That's right I said it, no straight man could resist that.

So you have a genie, but you're worried about your boss the Colonel? Can't your genie just make you a General? Or, better yet, incredibly rich?

i would say the laugh inn eposode was one of the worst, i loved the one farrah fawcett was in were she was major healys date, right how could he get farrah.. the wedding killed the show --

I don't know if the show ever jumped, but I will say the chase is always better than the catch. In other words, once they got married the show was never the same. Still very watchable, but never the same. Perhaps they should have ended the show without the marriage or save the marriage for the movies, though I hated the movies (No Larry Hagman).
The show did not have as diverse of cast as Bewitched had, though I do remember the I Dream of Jeannie guest star episodes with Paul Lynde (Uncle Arthur from Bewitched) and Don Rickles. My favorite episodes were the black and white ones. Their was definitely a change in Jeannie's character when the episodes changed to color. I liked her old black and white episode character better, probably in demeanor closer to her sisters role without the tonal voice change in the color episodes. I also liked it better when Major Healey did not know about Jeannie, but I guess having him find out about Jeannie's existence did allow for a wider variety of story lines.
Not a big fan of the characters that comprised Jeannie's family. Yes, I am aware that Eden had also played the role of Jeannie's sister and mother and that other actresses also played Jeannie's mother so their was a lack of consistency. I Dream of Jeannie really could have used a wacky neighbor.
I think without question that is where Bewitched was the superior show. Endora, Uncle Arthur and the rest along with Doctor Bombay and the Kravitzes and the Tates also made that Bewitched cast special.
I do remember the Jeannie marriage. Did they have any kids? I believe their was an episode talking about what the future would be like with kids (the dracma machine?), but I don't recall if they had kids before the movies. I did say I hated the movies. Both of them. I still Dream of Jeannie and I Dream of Jeannie: 15 years later. Why they would make two movies without Hagman, I do not understand. If Hagman wasn't going to do them, then they shouldn't have been made.

I Dream of Jeannie never jumped the shark in my opinion. It was silly harmless fun and Hagman and Daly were incredibly funny together. Of course, Eden was smokin' and also had very good comedic timing. (Which is overlooked because of her hotness.) It always upsets me that young women look at this role and this show as being sexist. Three things should be remembered though: (1) Barbara Eden was the star of the show (2) her character was literally omnipotent, (3) the whole premise of the show was that she was pretty much doing whatever she wanted in spite of the wishes of Mr. Nelson. This is where most of the humor was in the show. Overall, I'd say that this show and a few others are, because they are so silly and don't aspire to much in the first place are jump-proof. Love Jeannie.

Roger should have been the one who found Jeanie, maybe he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he would have known what to do with Jeanie!
Barbara Eden was the HOTTEST woman on TV in the 60's!

Only recently saw the B&W pilot episode; the spirited, sexually aggressive 'Jeannie' was quite a contrast to Barbara Eden's later 'sweeter' characterisation. Those ludicrous attempts to make Eden, a tall, statuesque Nordic blonde appear ethnically more 'Middle Eastern' were thankfully dropped. One nice idea was to have Tony Nelson actually take advantage of Jeannie's powers, unlike Darren Stevens from 'Bewitched'. Still, no wonder it took Tony years to finally pluck up the courage to get together with Jeannie (thus JTS), she was one whole lotta woman.

This show came on when I was just hitting puberty and I was always totally and completely baffled why Tony Nelson wasn't just continually having wild sex with Jeanie. Especially when she was in her Genie oufit, telling her "master" that she is there for his pleasure and is ready to serve his every need...Good grief, any normal guy would be taking her up on the offer, go down with her into her bottle, which seemed to be Jeanie's personal sex playpit.

Still the hottest woman ever on tv! and at age 13 I thought the name on the show should have been changed to, "I Cream on Jeannie"

I liked the 4th season best...Tony finally realizing that hey this is a hot woman! I love her! I lik the house being remodeled complete with a place for the bottle...I like that Jeannie could intereact with The Bellows (my god Mrs. Bellows was a hottie in her own right...unbelievable that Dr. Bellows could land a hottie like that!)

No...it was totally cool to have them married.
